New Superstar In The Making: Jeremiah Smith
Ohio State Buckeyes has been producing elite wide receiver prospects over the last few years from Chris Olave, Garret Wilson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Marvin Harrison Jr. The next great wide receiver is Jeremiah Smith currently a freshmen and entering the college semi final playoff game against the Texas Longhorns.
The 6’3″ wide receiver is making waves as Ohio State’s go-to juggernaut on the field in his rookie season, and he gets along well with quarterback Will Howard. Smith has accumulated 1,037 yards and 12 touchdowns on 63 receptions going into Wednesday’s Rose Bowl, along with 47 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown—all without fumbling.
If Smith was eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft, he would most likely be selected first in a few months. Unfortunately, NFL front offices will have to wait a few years before snagging the top wide receiver talent in recent memory because he won’t be available until 2027 as a freshman.
Smith has already been likened to future NFL Hall of Famer Julio Jones because of his physique, vertical threat, and size (6’3″ and 215 pounds). The part that’s frightening? In his debut season on the college scene, Smith has the opportunity to surpass Jones’ finest season with the Alabama Crimson Tide, which ended with a 78-1,133-7 score.
